Existence of Hill Cumorah Kiosk Confirmed

For many months the Hill Cumorah Kiosk has been somewhat of a mystery in the Church Office Building Audiovisual IP Section. I couldn't help but take a peek at the kiosks at the visitor center when I was up there a couple of weeks ago for the pageant. This photo is of the Book of Mormon Diorama (this probably won't mean anything to anybody except Cody Tak so I hope he reads this). Marvin Payne (Lehi) strikes again. The short outtakes of the Joseph video are also there.

  1. I am still following. I am sorry I haven't made a comment for a while. Please take a lot of pictures of as many visitor's centers as possible. I would love to do a decent report on some of those displays.

When are you coming back? Christina had her baby so I have been trying to fill in.

  2. Looks like Palmyra is the only visitor center I'm going to get to this summer. Without a car, there aren't many opportunities for travel... :( I do have a few more photos of the exhibits, but not enough to base a whole report on. Sorry. We should have had Chante take some photos when she was in Nauvoo...but I guess she was a little preoccupied.

I land in Salt Lake on August 18th in the evening. I'll be at work the next morning. Things must be quite different there with some new faces and without Ky and Christina. I'm anxious to get back. From the work emails, it looks like I'm already getting assigned to a new batch of projects. Would you recommend that I do any preparing before the 19th? Have there been any updates to your manual?

The baby came early. Were you able to complete the transition?

  3. The Manual has been implemented in the department and there have been a lot of changes (though no one really knows). Kind of unfortunate. One of the things we will have you do is go through your manual and make the necessary changes to make sure it is in sync with the AV IP Policy Handbook.

We actually had an exam on the manual too. That was fun. I was able to write a test and administer it to the team. Everyone did better than expected. Maybe it should have been closed book.

I don't think you need to do any preparations. We have been assigning some projects to you because of the work load crunch. With Ky leaving, we needed to put some projects somewhere. Also, from last september, we have had a 150 project increase in our section. Pretty wild. And we are not able to keep up with most of the radio programs. We should be technically reviewing 24 hours of programming every day but we probably see 3 hours per day. So, I don't know what is going on the other 21 hours and no body really seems to care. I think there is a greater sense of apathy from COR-IPD in relation to AV products. It is kind of like the philosophy that if you can't see it, it is not really there.

The transition is going okay. Since the baby was two weeks early, I didn't get to talk about all of the issues she wanted to discuss. I have found that is probably a good thing so I can evaluate each issue objectively and see if there is a better way to implement and execute policy.

I am excited to have you back on the team. It will be good to have some another specialist on the team again. There is a lot of political stuff that we will need to catch up on when you get here.
